buying a truck

We have a 1998 Chevy Silverado extended cab with a vortech 350 in it at work for $9000 my price and $11300 for non employees. The interior and exterior are in excellent shape. What I want to know is how good are these trucks as daily drivers (I don't really care about fuel economy) It looks like where the trans meets with the block is starting to leak a little, other than that there are no leaks, the oil gauge is at 60 when it is cold and goes down to 40 when driving and is warmed up, then when idling it goes down to 20 and the idle seems to jump around a little bit. It didn't show any signs of wanting to stall though. I don't know what the oil pressure should be at though. Sorry if non of this makes sense. From this do you think this would be a good purchase? It will be 30 mile trips every other day if I got it.

Is it a 4x4 and how many miles?

it's a 4x4 with 107000 miles. It looks like the owner took great care of the truck. only two small dents in it by the bed.

Oil pressure seems about right. As far as the leak, could be a rear freeze plug as the miles are right for them to fail. 9k is a fair price though, 11,3k is a bit high.
