Cam Position sensor
 

Hello, new to the forum & need help. We just purchased a 1999 Chevy Silverado 2500 2wd w/6.0l V8. Can someone tell us where the cam position sensor is located please?

Back of the motor upper side between the motor and firewall. Take the intake off and its very easy to get to. One bolt holds it in.

Thank You so much for the info!! Fortunately we were able to figure out the problem & fix it. Was not sure which part was causing the problem but narrowed it down to the started & all is good!

Love your 'name' by the way! Knew you were an oilman before looking at your profile! I spend 5 years in the patch running an o/f construction company & hubby spent 15 or so years running heavy equipment.

Oh wow thats great! And thx! I been at it for bout 12 years and still love it. It has taken a toll on my body as far as labor, but the knowledge I have learned is great! Yeah post some pics.

We both loved it! I spent 5 years managing about 200 guys. I wore many 'hats' running the office...everything from counseling to working on all our Nextel phones. I watched many greens at 18 yrs old move on to getting married, having babies, becoming foremen...it was great! One big happy family! Sadly, I litterally wore my arms out! Typing 90 wpm all day, I woke up one morning & my arms wouldn't move. They medically retired me in 2005. My hubby was injured in 2006 by having a 20k lb trailer drop on his right foot when he was reconnecting it after unloading equipment. The bright side..the trailer was empty or it would have been a much worse outcome. He ended up losing about 1/3 of his foot so he can no longer do that kind of work. Both injuries landed us in the RV industry. We help run a wonderful RV campground near the Sequoia National Park. It's not too far from our home town & we often have campers that we've worked with in the past show up here.

Im so sorry to hear that! But also commend you guys for staying up. I have had some close calls, really close. But I am glad where I am at today and teach new hands as much as I can so they learn it and stay alive at the same time. Ill never love anything better than the sight and sound of big iron and diesel motors! It is still to this day just AWESOME!
