Carbon Cleaning

My 02 6 litre was ticking pretty bad all the time, and I've read about carbon on top of the pistons (ARGON's threads of course)causing it to tick like a lifter, Well i got a Dawn dish soap bottle and cleaned it very well, then filled it with hot water and while holding the RPM's at about 3500 sprayed it into the TB (no i did not spay the MAF) and a whole lot of nasty colored smoke and steam came from the tailpipe. After i emptied the 25oz bottle I held the throttle for a few seconds to clear the manifold. Hooked the MAF back to the TB, and BAM no ticking. I know there are a few guys who will bash the idea of dumping water into the intake, but it worked. If you try it, make sure you dont squirt to much water in there, you could hydrolock that bitch.

RE: Carbon Cleaning

does that really work?
ive herd of that, but i also herd theres a huge chance of hydrolock.
did u notice any power gains or improved response and mpg?

I was just so tired of that stupid ticking noise, i was willing to try anything. As long as you dont use a garden hose, i think you will be fine. And yea it really worked. If you do a search for cabon you will see that Argon tells everyone that it's carbon causing the ticking noise, but he will tell you to use GM top engine cleaner, which im sure is the right way, i just dont like to wait 24 hours for that stuff to work.

I cant really tell if it is running any better because i was messing with the predator programmer at the same time, so yea its faster but im sure that is the programmer.

yeah..water is effective in LIBERAL amounts..so is trans fluid...1 problem though,is its not necessarily going to all 8 cylinders...but yeah,it can work.

RE: Carbon Cleaning

What if you used a spray bottle to get more of a "mist", you think it would hit more cylinders that way?

Oh and I heard you can use plain washer fluid too. Any truth in that?

IUf you use washer fluid use the 30 below stuff. Some people use it with Heat to cool IAT's with a force induction system.
