Change Engine Oil Light
Okay, I know how you're supposed to reset the "change engine oil" light. Turn key to on, press the gas pedal 3 times in 5 seconds blah blah blah.
Well, this has never worked easily on my truck. It always takes 3 or 4 tries before I actually get it to reset. Maybe I'm notbiting my tongue just right when I do it [sm=tongue.gif] I just changed my oil last night, and was pissing with trying to reset the light for 10 or 15 minutes and can't get the damn thing to reset. Does anybody know of another way to reset it? |
RE: Change Engine Oil Light
some are like that..let it "go to sleep" maybe 10 minutes, then retry...if strill not, disconnect the battery a few mins and try it

RE: Change Engine Oil Light
I tried it again this morning with no luck. I'll try again when I leave work today. If it still doesn't work I'll disconnect the battery. I also need gas, so my low fuel light keeps coming on. I don't assume that should make a difference would it?

RE: Change Engine Oil Light
no...i see some that just refuse as yours is doing...try the battery..if still not,it'll have to be reset with a scanner

RE: Change Engine Oil Light
Would the generic scanner I can use at AutoZone be able to reset it, or will I have to take it to a dealer so they can use their real-deal scanner?
|
RE: Change Engine Oil Light
i really dunno..i'm at a dealer..not sure what autozone may have..but it should

RE: Change Engine Oil Light
On the third press to the floor, hold it there for about 3 seconds. That should reset the system.
