Default "Check Gages" flickers in the morning......

Hey all - '98 Silverado 5.0 - as title states, my "CHECK GAGES" flickers for 20 seconds or so the first time I start it in the morning. It's not too cold yet here in Vegas but it didn't do it during the summer. Truck's not running funny, and it doesn't seem to pulse with engine rotation or anything like that. It comes on solid right when I start it, then flickers slowly at first, then more rapidly til it goes out completely. I haven't seen it do it again after the first time in the morning.

It's something I can certainly live with unless ya'll know it's something serious. Read a couple posts about ignition switches affecting this... and I've had problems with the switch before.

Thanks all!

Have you looked at your guages to see if one is malfunctioning or is in the red area while the light flickers?

I didn't notice it when it was happening. I'll check it again tomorrow AM.

No problems with the gages - all of them worked right away as normal.

So upon further research, it seems that the 'Check Gages' light is designed to warn you to check your other gages in case you're overheating/oil pressure/etc. I'm having no issues like that but it has been awhile since I changed my oil so maybe oil pressure a bit higher than normal??? Otherwise I've read that it's a bad gage cluster. Efffffffffffffffff.

Oil was old and dark - pressure was a bit higher than normal. Changed oil and pressure went down to normal and no warning light.
