hi, i have a 1984 chevy silverado swb k10.it has a 305 and it is a 4x4 the guy im buying it from says the transmission is stuck in low(not the transfer case) what can this be?i just found out what he did to it.He was hauling some gravel to his house and he came up on a bridge so he got off the gas and then stomped back on it so it would down shift now its stuck there?what happened?its a 700r tranny 4x4 or 700r4(if there not the same thing)

 

it sounds like the roller clutch came apart

 

The 2-4 Band is most likley burnt up on it, it is a 700R4 in there, i am a transmission rebuilder i sell 700R4s online for 460.00 + core if you need another,
