RE: Chevy truck tire psi

I agree max pressure cold on mine are 65psi and there is now way in hell i would run at 65 or with in 10 of that. Your tread pattern would suck and you would end up wearing down just the center of the tire.

Exacry! Well atleast some people know how tire pressure and tire alignment affect tread where and ride/comfort/handleing.... I guess not every body has worked at a tire shop though(ssshhhhh...)

you guys should check out michelin (sp?) i watched a police training video from them which was also a tire saftey course. they had some interesting info on properly inflated tires as it relates to wet traction as well as blow out procedures. i learned a lot.

To each his own I guess. Manufacturers (on both vehicles and tires alike) specs should be all you need with psi.

RE: Chevy truck tire psi

I have load range "d" tires on my truck and the psi says 65 max. If i ran 35 like the doors says then i would wear out my tires and the truck would ride funny look funny and get bad gas mileage. So i run them at about 55to60 depending on what the temp it outside.

i run my load range Es which say 80 max psi anywhere from 50-60 depending on the temp.

Hunt4game, does your door tag that specifies 35PSI, also specify "LT" tires or load range "D"? If I remember right Load range "E" is a 10 ply sidewall(great for handling heavy loads-WAY OVERKILL FOR A 1/2 TON THOUGH), she must ride harsh, harsh, harsh.I had a set of Michelin Load range "D"(8ply I think) on mine for only one afternoon and got rid of them before I started losing teeth(LOL). If your 05 is like my 02,the factory specifies "P" series tires set to 35PSI. "P" or "Passenger" tires don't have different Load ranges available, although the number of sidewall belts do vary from brand to barnd and also based on the model of tire. I still run P265/75r16 on my 2002 Z71 set to 36PSI in the winter(so they don't ride too hard) and as high as 38PSI in the warmer weather. I have had pretty damn near even tire wear across the entire contact patch of the tire with some extra wear on the shoulder of the tire from hard cornering(still can't get that autocross virus out of my blood).

surprisingly at 50 psi the ride is really smooth and comfortable but if i get it over 60 its overkill and a bit rough. the new shocks help out a bunch.
