I have a CAI on my 04 Sierra 5.3 and it does give me more power, but my fuel economy is about the same unless I put my foot into it. It does give my truck a cool deep sounding tone and is more responsive. Of course it is also combined with my Flowmaster CLONE dualed out system.
However If I was to do it again I would either search on Ebay for a cheap CAI or buy a K&N filter and a modular tube from Summit Racing or such a place. The tube is where you get the most gain. Ebay you can find a bunch of them cheap with normally a Spector filter.

For a 2010 Vararam has a very cool dual snorkel that picks air up at the radiator support and cost about 300 bucks
