RE: coolant bypass???

you bypass the coolant going to through the throttle body so the throttle will be cooler. you just take a fitting and connect the two hoses

what does this do for the performance of the truck?

The coolant path is from the heads to the throttle body, the coolant is hot. By passing this keeps the throttle body relatively cool compared to before the bypass. Cooler air is more dense. The gain is minimal is power and economy, but, it only costs $1.00 or so.

Or free if your hose will reach. Mine reached from the passenger side of the radiator to the driver side of the engine, then I just moved the bracket that held it to the radiator. Then you just need the vaccuum caps to cover the throttle body holes.

And it doesn't have any possible side effects? Since a cooling line is being bypassed and all.

The coolant lines from either side of the throttle body are connected to each other, therefore, the coolant is still able to flow through the heads.
