Delivery Damage?
I bought a new 2011 Silverado LT two weeks ago. Yesterday I noticed a small dent on the roof next to the XM antennae, and was like WTF is that?! I jumped up there to inspect more closely, and there are three dents - each one having all of the paint scraped clean. I then went to the passenger side and there is a series of much smaller scrapes (no dents) at about the same place. Both are approximately 10-12 in length from the first scratch to the last. The drivers side is by far the worst though.
I have absolutely no idea what could have caused it, and I surely would have known if I hit something driving down the road. I also couldn't have hit a low overhang, such as those at fast food drive-ins as the XM antennae would have been ripped off and/or severly damaged.
I'm attaching pics of the damage to the driver's side. The only thing I can think of is that it is delivery damage. I've been to the dealer who took pics and the sales manager said he would discuss with the GM, but that he's never seen anything like it.
Any input here? I was sick when I discovered the damage, and am NOT trying to pull one over on the dealer. Anyone ever see delivery damage similar to this?

Iv never heard off anything similar to that. I would have also gone back to the dealer.
If i had to guess, the damage came from the "car carrier". Truck was prob on the bottom, and the driver lowered the vehicle above it onto the truck when he was unloading the "car carrier"

I got a new truck this past year also and would pi$$Ed beyond belief also! Good luck!
I'm sure it wasn't the car hauler... All the vehicles go through a detailed inspection once they are delivered to free the carriers from any liability, then bill is signed off.
Like GMC2011 said.. It could have happened any time after that....
Just a suggestion: Be nice about it with the dealership. It's your word against theirs.
You be nice to them about it, they maybe nice to you about it. It could get fixed under customer satisfaction and continued repeat business.

Well i think your going in the right direction. And i agree with In2Trux, Be nice to the dealer and the dealer will be nice to you.
But i don't think it would be from a hoist, doesn't explain the paint being rubbed off. And the car carrier can lower the top level just a bit to just touch the truck. Maybe it wasn't touching at first, but during the trip the truck moved around enough to hit the upper level?
They do go threw a detailed inspection upon delivery, but if they deliver the vehicles in the middle of the night, they just unload the vehicles and leave. The guy that inspects them in the morning has a fraction of the time to inspect one, for all of them.
NOW, im not trying to start any kind of argument here. This is just my experience

I too put in a vote for being pleasant with the dealership. They will likely help you out since it is so new.
