djm 2"-4" pro drop kit

whats up, i just purchased the djm 2"-4" pro drop kit and i was wondering if anyone had any difficulties installing this kit. I am confused because everywhere i've looked it makes it sound like you only need to buy the passenger rear shock for this. i ordered this kit from stylin concepts and i also ordered the toxic shocks. Did i even need to order the shocks? i need advice!!! oh yeah i drive a 2003 silverado reg. cab 5.3L, thanks

Did you get dropped spindles or shorter springs for the front? If you got spindles, you can use your factory shocks. IF you got springs, then use the Toxic shocks. If you use the factory shocks with a shorter spring, it affects the rebound and dampening characteristics of the shock valving. As for the rear, the same applies. When you move the axle housing up, the factory shocks are further compressed. I have seen some shock mount extenders provided in some kits but I don't know if it applies to the 2-4 kit. I know if does in the 5-7 kit when you have an axle flip kit. I would go ahead and use the shocks for safe measure and for ride quality.

Since the control arm basically just lower the spring pockets, you really shouldn't have to change out the shocks if don't want to. It might be a good idea to go ahead and do it though. Most OEM are marginal at best. Good luck with the project.

RE: djm 2"-4" pro drop kit

whats up everybody, i just put the drop kit on my truck this weekend and we ran into a problem. I found out that chevy changed their hangers and shackels in 03-04, there is like 3 different styles for the same truck and you guessed it, they sent me the wrong hanger kit. The front is done and it looks great, the rear is halfway done, the shackles are on and that lowered the truck 2 inches so far once i get the hangers on it will lower it 2 more inches. just thought i'd let everybody else know the whole deal with the hangers, check before you order it will save you alot of headaches!

hey man, i have a reg cab 2001 stepside with a 5.3 too, i also installed a 2-4 drop, and beware, the rear still looks like it could use another inch or two. i already had the shackles on it, so to achieve the other 2 inches we put the hangers on, but, it seems like 4 inches still doesnt compensate for the two in the front...i stacked a bunch of wood in the bed of mine from hurricane rita to level the rear out...
