Emergency brake adjustment?

A recent thread reminded me of something...does the emergency brake on the 99 and up Silverado's need to be adjusted. My truck is an 02 1500HD with rear disc brakes. I have noticed that the emergency brake pedal goes down all the way. It holds the truck from rolling, but I guess I would think that it wouldn't go down so far unless an adjustment was needed. Educate me here people.

As long as it's holding it shouldn't matter, but if it bothers you then adjust it and get the pedal up. To be honest I haven't had to adjust one in years, not since my '71 series adventures. In Texas for annual inspection as long as it holds the vehicle they don't care how far the pedal goes, not sure about other states though.

Disreguard I got off my @ss and looked in the service manual. It has an adjustment like a drum brake (it is basically a drum brake system inside of the rotors). I bet it needs new shoes b/c it is supposed to be self adjusting. I use it to pull my boat and the last thing I need is to have to call a wrecker to fish my truck out of the lake.

Yeah man that would suck, motivation is a fickle b!tch ain't she.

Amen to that. I guess I'll tear into it tomorrow after work. I'll let you know what it's like.
