engine noise

i have a tick in my engine and I always thought it was a lifter tick, but my buddy has a 6.0L and his truck sounds the same and he was told that its a cam bearing and thats its like 20+ hours to fix. Anybody ever hear about a cam bearing in the newer trucks going. I know that the cam bearings in the old small blocks only had to be changed if you wanted to dip your engine when you rebuilt it. Is it possible to get rid of the lifter tick or is it alsways gonna be around no matter what you try?

My 4.8 has a tick too but I don't see how there could be worn out engine internals. It doesn't even have 40,000 miles on the engine yet.

nah..its carbon deposits on top of the pistons...top-engine cleaner will rid it...for awhile

So is this a problem or is it something that is just annoying? Maybe I'll try some Seafoam. I did that to my 240sx when I had it and it worked GREAT. What do you think Argon?

Yes,its just annoying...we've de-carboned a few,but the noise returned in about 20k...
