engine rev
I have noticed ever since buying my truck that if you rev the enine in park, it revs very slowly and seems limited. Is this related to the torque mangement? I just thought since there is no load on the engine in park that the torque management may be limiting it. Any of you that have the tune already still experience it?

RE: engine rev
Well I have the 4.8 so maybe it revs a tiny bit differently but it doesn't really rev slow at all in my opinion. Doesn't rev as fast as the LT1 in my Camaro but it seems to rev just fine. Maybe not having enough backpressure is causing that...?

RE: engine rev
mine revs too fast for me... people dont get the entire effect, it gets to 5800 too quick... takes FOREVER to get back down to idle though... three times as long as to rev... sounds wicked...
wow that was off topic... sorry about that... anyway, my 4.8 also doesn't do that... |
RE: engine rev
More off topic...... You wanna know what revs slow? Mitsubishis. Neither of the ones I owned were designed to make any more power past 5500rpm and they took forever to get there. Even the turbod Conquest. My 240SX on the other hand would rev like a motorcycle!:D

RE: engine rev
72Charger - What year 240SX?

92

RE: engine rev
Thats why, you had DOHC. I had a 89' SOHC. It was essentially the 2.4 truck motor with a different intake manifold. Mine didn't rev for sh*t.

RE: engine rev
LOL! Yep, I had that the good ol' KA24DE! That thing was amazing for a four naturally aspirated 4 cylinder. Check it out on my xanga page. The link is in my signature.

RE: engine rev
Sweet rims. I'd love to buy another one, but have a DOHC or KA24DET.

RE: engine rev
Yeah I wanted to turbo mine so bad. It just needed too much body work when I got rid of it. My mom parked it right behind the mail box one night after I let her drive it and I went to back out of the yard and raked it across the driver side of the 240.......[:@] ANGRY! I needed a new driver door, both fenders, a front bumper and a new rear hatch. Just didn't want to deal with it. Most of that was not from the mail box though. I had also installed KYB AGX dampening adjustable struts in it. It handled great with those and the low pro tires! Smoke20 is gonna be hacked that we hijacked his post LOL!!

RE: engine rev
Oh yeah. Well we are still talking about revs, sort of. LOL. Mine had an intake and 2 1/2" exhaust system all the way back, no cat, lowering springs, and a performance computer but it still wasn't that fast. My neighbor bought it from me and dumped 12K into it then wrecked it. It had the KA24DET blue printed and balanced, pushing 400hp with 300Z suspension and drive train, roll cage the whole nine yards! Ran on Sunoco Blue. He did drift with it. It was scary fast.

RE: engine rev
You sons a bitches are screwing up my post! Just kidding, no big deal. I also had a 240, 1990 hatchback. no real mods, but it was fast. I wish I still had it to save on gas now.
|
RE: engine rev
Heck yeah! Sounds like my kinda guy. I tought myself how to drift with my Conquest TSI! Wasn't pushing nearly that much power but it still rocked my world. It was much better at that than the 240SX was. Came stock with 3.55 gears and VERY good limited slip. The guy I bought it from put a tiny bit bigger turbo on it, modified the intake, and welded a custom straight pipe exhaust off the turbo out the right side. I scared a lot of old people with that thing...:D

RE: engine rev
I'm feeling you Smoke20. Although my 240SX really sucked in the gas mileage area. I honestly don't know that it got any better gas mileage than my truck does.
|
RE: engine rev
mine was great on milage. I got 35 on the higway and 28 in the city if I drove like I had since.
|
RE: engine rev
Ha ha. We are talking Nissan car on a Chevy truck forum. Talk about off track! Yeah I miss mine. Its junk now. I don't remember the gas milage honestly, it was too far back when gas was like 2 bucks a gallon or less. It would have made a great everyday runner anyways.

RE: engine rev
ROFL! Your right. Let us wash our mouths out with soap and repent brethren.
