almost sounds like metal hitting metal deep inside the motor
any ideas

 

Im thinking maybe a can of SeaFoam might do the trick

 

If it is a light and crisp dink dink or tapping up near the valve covers is obviously a valve tap. Fix: Retiming.

If it is a knocking when you hit the gas, Predetionation. Usually caused by crappy gas and worn cylinder/piston walls or and combination of the two. Fix: Pro Mechanic for testing

If it is a knocking that is steady throughout the rev even at idle there is a "condition" entitled piston slap.. When there is enough room the piston is rocking back and forth on the wrist pin. If left unchecked some day it will wear enough, jam on the way up and break/bend connecting rod... wrist pin... crankshaft... etc.

If you have knocking worries see your dealer/mechanic. There is usually no quick fix for knocks but its obviously more common in high mileage engines. Hope these words help rule out...

 

Um.... this couldn't possibly have anything to do with your previously posted thread about doing 164 with the tack pegged and you spraying nitros could it? Not to sure what you expected there.

fix it fast! its got to be a rod! i had the same thing on my toyota and the mechanic said dont worry about it!!!! bull ****! i was cruizing home one day and when that rod snapped it shook my truck so hard it almost drove off the road! not even jokin! get it resleeved or rebuilt.

argon, is it sleeves or new pistons that you need to fix this??

 

Just dump a quart of Slick 50 in there and don't worry about it............ Although considering he hasn't reposted here I'm thinking maybe the engine already took a dump.
