Error message

2003 Silverado 5.3L 82000 miles
Engine goes to idle when starting from a stopped position and error message (Reduced Engine Power) comes on. My owners manual says it is over heating but it is not. I have taken it to my mechanic and he changed both before oxygen sensors and cleaned the fuel injection. Still happens but not as frequent. Any help?

Thanx,

Your mechanic has a lot to be desired.
did he check codes?..it has a problem with the throttle sensor and/or accelerator.

sounds like he's a parts-thrower

What is the temp reading? Maybe an issue with the sensor or sending unit.

Ooooo.... Doesn't that just make everyone wanna run to the nearest Chevy dealership? "Yeah it's gotta problem but I don't want you to fix it I just want you to replace some random part to make a quick buck and then tell me it's good to go!"

Ok, some more information. I have'nt been able to get the truck back to the mechanicbut I have noticed that it happens only when it is very hot outside 90 and up and if I start in 3rd and then move it to D it never happens. ???

RE: Error message

The reduced power message is accompanied by a code/codes in the Ecm...did he check for codes?..most likely, its a throttle sensor issue...or related
