hey has anybody changed from thebelt driven fan to electric? i heard that they draw more air in andeliminate the drag on the motor. right nowthe motor likes to stay at 210*F.... i would like to keep it under 200*F. also anyone know where i can get one of those 180*F thermostats for the 4.3??i figured to do this step nextsince i already put true dual exhaust with flowmaster 40 series and a K&N filter on my 4.3>> anybody see a great improvement by converting to electric fan or is it the best bet to just change the thermostat?

I saw a significant improvement after installing a 160 degree thermostat. The temp stays at180-185 degrees. It's only a few dollars as compared to the $400 for electric fans. Electric fans are still a good performance move, though.

Thing about it, a belt driven fan creates significant resistance on your engine. Taking that big damn fan off and going to electric fans will provide a noticable power difference. Electric fans will most likely be the next mod on my truck, but like MrLM7 said, if you buy the kits specifically designed for our trucks, they are expensive as hell!! However, there are ways around that... I know a couple guys that have pulled fans out of junk yards or buy universal electric fans for a fraction of the price. With the lower temp stats, I would listen to what MrLM7 says.

So which mod creates more power, electric fans or low temp stat, the electric fans no doubt about it!

I agree the electric fans make more power. Just can't justify the money for the direct fits... You can find stuff in a junk yard like Mark said, but the wiring harness you need is pricey and you really have to get one rated high enough to handle it.
