Default Front wheels won't lock into 4WD

Well last winter I was having problems getting around in the snow. Once while I was stuck, I noticed that the front wheels weren't spinning. If I switch between 4 Hi and 4 Lo, the rear end gearing changes. But the front wheels won't spin no matter what. What things should I look for to find the problem? Trucks are kind of a new thing for me. As far as I can tell, all driveshafts that should be there, are. Thanks for your help in advance.

Oh, its a 1995, 1500 with a 350 and a 5 speed. 6 in suspension lift and 3 in body lift. 35 X 12.5 tires on 15 in wheels.

Thanks

sounds like your transfercase is engaging get on some good sturdy ground try to get all 4 wheels off the ground and lock the truck in and see if they spin i asume its push button automatic locking hub might have a bad relay that engages the hubs

Actually I forgot to mention that it is not a push button 4WD. It's the stick. Would that have manual or automatic locking hubs? Thanks.
