Fuel gauge issue 2000 Silverado 5.3L

Unhappy Fuel gauge issue 2000 Silverado 5.3L
My low fuel light is on and the gauge reads empty, however, I filled the tank which only took 14 gallons and the light and empty hasn't changed. Anyone know what I should look for?
