Fuel injector cleaning service

This past weekend I changed the intake gaskets out on my 1998. (Thanks to the ****ty dex cool) Anyways while changing it I noticed the fuel injectors are awfully dirty. The guy helping me do it mentioned the dealer he works for has a machine that will flush and clean out the injectors. Is it worth it to do this he thought I should see a good gain in power and gas mileage. He thought it would run about $125 should I do this?

Too much money. Is there an NTB or Tire Kingdom around there? They used to have $60 or $80 B&G service and it works. You put this stuff in the oil, in the tank, and hook an IV looking bottle to a vacuum line about mid-point on the engine, start it up and run if for 10-15 minutes. By the time you put more gas in it, it runs smoother and you'll notice a slight gain in mpg.

I'm in the same situation and curious as to where you stand with this issue? I have done some research (owner of a '97) and found that because of the injection layout, you may have to purge the system... I have yet to act on it because of money... please let me know.

if it runs fine, don't worry about it..

its gonna get dirty on the outside...it has explosions going off right by it ...all a flush is gonna do is clean inside the lines

Honestly it did help my 91', but then again it sat for three years without running at all, so yeah anything would help that. Try running SeaFoam first.

I have put seafoam in my tank and thru my vacuum booster line but so far no change. I'm sure I have an injector issue... I've heard the best way to clean those injectors out is to purge them and run a top cleaner at 10% thru the injectors only, it's too volitile for the furl pump...

usually on those true vortec engines the fuel rails in side start to leak and make your truck idle rough and feel sluggish...unfortunately the only fix is new fuel rails which is costly($400 or so)
