Fuel lines
 

So my 1989 Chevy Scottsdale (has the 5.0L) has been setting for about a year, and recently I resurrected it. First off the fuel is dripping pretty badly out of what I think is the high pressure fuel line coming from the gas tank. Seems to be leaking back of the fuel filter, and before the rubber hose going to the tank.

Now this truck is very rusty, so I'm looking for an easy/cheap fix for it. I'm a poor college student and just want to make it stop leaking. Gas is expensive!

I got 2' of nylon high pressure hose from autozone today to try to fix 'er up, but the problem I'm running into is that my pipe cutter wont fit in between the frame and the tank. Got any suggestions? I'm not beyond replacing the whole line from the filter back to the tank, but I'd really love to avoid dropping the tank from this rusty beast.

Should I just dump a bunch of gas into it and drive it over to a shop and see what they say about it?

Also: What size line is it there between the fuel filter and the tank?

What if I cut the original rubber hose right before the steel line is pressed on, and get a male-to-male fitting so I can use my new nylon hose?

That should work. The TBI trucks like yours don't have a lot of pressure like the newer ones.

Can I go find a brass fitting from a hardware store, or should I use a special one from Autozone or something like that?

I have a pressure tester. Is there a Schroeder valve I can tap into to see what the pressure is after I'm done, or do I have to connect my gauge in-line?
