fuel pressure
can anyone help me here, i posted a thread a while back about my 96 silverado stalling on me going down the road, i recently pulled a egr valve and ignition module code and i thought that was the problem, but then my mechanic said its u can watch the fuel pressure go down and the it stalls. Its a 96 5.0 liter, any idea what this could be, i already change fuel pump and filter.
If the EGR valve is bad then most likely it is stuck open. That means the computer will pour more gas and you should see some black smoke coming from your exhaust. Even reving it up this will happen. Check for that first.
well i think u just solved my terrible gas mileage situation i knew it would be bad when i bought the truck but its flat out terrible. i havent seen black smoke yet but ill look into it. But anyway my mechanic called me today and said hes gatta whole bunch of guages and what not hooked up to it and said the fuel pump is losing power or somthing, he called a guy he knows from GM that works on chevys all day everyday and he was even baffled, u know how a fuel pump could lose power? he was saying somthing about the computer.
Well the computer controls how much pressure the fuel pump puts out. If it needs more, it send more voltage to increase pressure. So he sounds like he knows what he is doing. Lets see what he comes up with.
