RE: fuel pump

To maximize fuel pump life ensure that the pump never goes dry, so in other words no less thatn 1/4 tank of fuel at all times, secondly check the fuse or relay for the pump make sure that its not in excess of the maximum current that should be supplied to the fuel pump, if it exceeds the pump then it can allow the pump to draw more current than is safe. Also make sure that you change the fuel filter regularly as it will ensure that the pump does not have to be running at maximum power to get fuel pressure to the injectors. Which now that I think about it I would have your fuel pressure checked see if its to high for the pump.

I also neglected to mention that you should put dielectric grease in all your exterior connections to prevent corrosion in them, especially the fuel pump one as it has a bad tendency to corrode.

Are you sure you are replacing your fuel filters regularly? When the filters are all clogged up, the pump has a harder time doing its work.
