Funny Chirp noise when i start and stop
Hello,
I have just reciently bought a 1999 GMC sierra 4x4 Z71 extended cab with 103,000 miles on it. It is a beautiful truck... My only issue so far is that whenever i start or stop kinda quickly i hear a funny chirp type noise coming from what seems to be the front driver's side. It doesnt seem to be a suspension noise cause it doesnt do it when i go over bumps or if i swerve just when stopping and starting off kinda quickly.... any ideas? ( it sounds sort of like brakes grabbing hard squeak/chirp, but its not the brakes cause it does it when i start off from a stop also....... i wish i knew how to better describe the noise) thanks guys Mike |

There is a TSB on this. You need a new nickel plated driveshaft spline. Packing the spline with grease is a temporary fix at best.

If it was in the back it could be the leaf springs rubbing together. Jack it up and put grease in between the leafs. Was told that today by a reliable mechanic.
