Gas mileage on 1995 4x4 GMC 5.7l 1500 TBI ?
Im thinking of trading my 95 gmc sonoma with 115,000 miles for a 95 sierra 1500. A guy i met on craigslist is prolly willing to trade his 95 gmc sierra 4x4 longbed regular cab with a supposedly rebuilt 350 with 75,000 miles and a new 4 spd auto tranny with unknown miles. Its just known that it was a new tranny and not rebuilt..The front end was rebulit dont know what all was done. Now he claims he can get 18-19 MPG on the interstate. I find this hard to believe considering its a Thottle body injection system. I took it for a ride and runs and drives pretty damn goodl. The truck needs alot less body work than mine. Both the blue books are similar on both trucks but i think im running a risky trading for a truck with 260,000 miles on it. My truck needs a decent almount of work and is only getting around 16 mpg on the interstate driving like a granny. What should be the expected gas mileage on a sotck rebulit 350 TBI?

in a 4x4 on the interstate your lookin on about 17-19 depending on how you drive it. and yes if its a new motor it will get that kind of mileage.

It MAY bump that with a/c off and a tailwind on a flat interstate...but I bet it gets more like 15-17 average

My 91' was a 305 with TBI and the gas milage was terrible. I got better mph by putting on aftermarket heads. I have heard of rebuilt engines getting better mph than stock. But with TBI I'm not so sure.

see i dunno why most people had horrible mileage 305s. the 305 in my 92 had some higher mileage bone stock motor and if i pulled the tailgate off i could see 20 mpg in the city.
