Help me with bodywork! (pictures)
Found a guy on CL parting out his truck and he has a cowl hood. It's a little banged up from an accident. I kind of want one but not if its going to cost me a fortune. Any idea how much its going to cost to get this fixed and painted black? I'm only asking because I didn't buy it and these are the pictures he sent me and wanted to get a rough idea before I started to look around locally.

For people with no experience in bodywork (like you and I), it seems like there are (2) options:
1) go ahead and buy the hood and take it to a reputable body shop and let them straighten it out and paint it. Probably gonna cost you a few bills, but over all probably cheaper than buying a straight hood.
OR - and this is the option I would take:
2) buy the hood, enroll in a community college autobody class. You can probably take the hood in and work on it as a project, and you'll have something more than a straight hood at the end of it.
Guys spend their entire lives learning how to shape metal. If you want it done right, I'd say have it done right or learn how to do it right. Bodywork is an art - you're probably not going to get a good answer in a posting. There's a lifetime of knowledge that needs to be expressed. You'll need to get your hands dirty.
Good luck! I'm interested to see how it turns out!

I would only take that hood if I was getting it for free, don't waste your money. It looks like the hood skin is separated. Don't pay money for the hood just so you can pay to have it repaired. I just don't want to see you get burned.
