glass packs
how long does it take for glass packs to burn out usually?
|
That will all depend on how you use them. I have heard they burn out when all the carbon basically covers the holes.
|
what do you mean on how you use them?
|
How hard you drive, what conditions you drive in, your environment (ie temp, humidity), and whether or not you use cleaners for the engine. If your motor runs rich and burns a bunch of oil it will want to puff a bunch of carbon out the tail pipe.
Just because I am curious, why do you ask about the life of a glasspack muffler? |
i just bought two and my buddies told me to burn them out in a fire and i just put them on instead and was wonderin.people usually say a couple months and it will get louder but idk
|
You just want straight through pipes? Because burning them in a fire will burn out all of the glass inside and make them not pop like they are supposed to. Yes, I have heard that the packs need to get broken in for them to reach their full noise.
Good luck! |
I had a glasspack on my 90 model Chevy 1500 with a 5.7. I had it welded on and dualed out. It burned out in about a month as I recall, but I was driving from Houston, Tx to Fortcampbell, Ky. So it must have burned out in the first 875 miles, but it did get a little louder.. I liked it. I just wonder how 1 would sound on a 5.3... Anyone?

IF you wanna do it fast, run the truck when its hot outside for a while. Then get some water and spray inside the glasspack, if you can from a short distance, if not then dont do it. The sudden cooling effect of the water will make the glass break. Then you got a straight pipe.

thanks guys
