GM wheel compatability
 

Hi, I'm a new member from Ontario Canada. I just got myself a 1988 chev silverado 4x4. I presently have 16 inch 265/70 R16. I have the change to upgrade to a 17 inch wheel and tires from a 2008 GMC Sierra 4x4, will these wheels fit my 1988??

I believe that if these are the 8lugs from your other post and you are swapping from another 3/4 ton then they will fit

I forgot to mention, these are 6 lugs, this is half ton to half ton swap. apparently the bolt pattern on both is 5.5. all I am concerned with now is recessed area for caliper clearence.

if your swaping them from a newer truck and they are 6lug it will fit but if its an 8 lug swap the only way it will fit is to uprade the hubs in the front and the axles lugs in the back to 8 lug and it will fit but in my opinion i think it would be too expensive to do the swap so i would try to find some 17 inch 6 lug wheels take off the tires from the 8 lug and put them on also you can run a larger tire on your 16 on my 88 i got 265 75 16s also i have heard of people puting 265 85 16s or 285 75 16 but with little clearance of the fender wells.
i believe the metric conversion of 265 75 16 is 31inch tires you may get away with 32s but make sure they wont rub on fender wells
