Default Headlights

I have a 98 Silverado and when I turn on my headlights at night they turn off. The lights are on when the switch is turned off and when I turn the marker lights on. I can switch to my high beams when the lights are turned on but not my low beams. Anyone know how to fix this problem??

So your day time running lights are working but your regulare lights aren't? I would have to say it is either the switch or fuses or even possibly the relay (If it has one for the headlights, I am not positive that it does have one). I would check a repair manual and see what it says to do about the problem. I have never heard of this before. At least you can drive with the daytime running lights! Good luck with the problem.

Yea I guess I should have clarified that earlier. Yes, my daytime running lights do work. I also found out sometimes after a little bit of driving I am able to turn on my regular headlights, but I dont dare try switching from high to low beams again.
