heat and idle problem

heat and idle problem
i have a 90 gmc 3500 4x4 454.
problems are this way to much heat under hood,cant get near front end without getting burnt. also idle to high,replace idle air control,throttle body gasket. truck will go from stop to 30 in less than 30 sec in idle. worse in reverse. any ideas on how to correct these issuses?
