heater core
got some great input from my last problem so i'll try again. I started smelling antifreeze when i ran the a/c .this morning i turned on the heater and it was real bad. possible heater core. kinda looked around and it looks about impossible to do . do you have to remove the dash to get to it. any guidance would be greatly appreciated
It's a 99. finally bought a repair book for a 99 and after reading what you have to do,my jaw dropped.
I have a friend at a dealership and he said it cost about 950.00. unbelievable that a 45.00 part costs 950.00 to put it in

Only cuz of the book time for the install. I think it calls for 8 hours or more of labor. Its not hard at all, just time consuming. Do it yourself and save the money. Other things you can do like since you have the dash out, you could clean it and paint it. You know dress it up or just make it look cleaner.
it still gets cold in Fla. and I'll be traveling the SEC. my daughter plays volleyball for UF. so i'll need it for kentucky, tenn etc. gets pretty cold up there. i had it done today , cost me a little bit less and it's fixed.if it lasts another 270,000 mi that will be great. i'll show yall my truck if i can ever figure out how to get my pics on here. again thanks for the input
Yeah I lived in Gainesville myself and it does get cold there (and really hot). I am originally from South Florida (Homestead) and couldn't believe the temp extremes in G'ville. I can't recall ever using my heater in Homestead, but definitely used it there. I can remember riding my bike to class on those cold mornings - yuck! Glad you got your truck fixed!
