Help!!!!!!!!!!!help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having some issues figuring out what wires are supposed to be hot and what are supposed to be grounds, and what wired plug into each other considering they are different colors....... does anyone know of any wiring diagrams for both vehicles. Me and a friend of mine are trying to use the gauges out of a 1997 gmc safari in a 1988 chevy k1500. we cut the plug off of the safari for the gauge cluster because the connections are different in the plug going into the cluster . does anyone know what wires are supposed to be connected to so that we can make the speedo, fuel , and batter voltage work. (the 97 safari wires are different colors too than the 88 chevy) thanks

I have a 1988 GMC K1500. Don't know if this will help, I noticed you have not disconnected the gauges on the '88. Perfect! Go under the dash with an electrical tester and the ignition off. You will be able to check to see which wires are hot. Trace them to the gauges you are replacing. That's how I've done it in the past and it worked! Good luck!
