Yes - pull the cluster and make sure the little motor in there is plugged in and nothing is jammed.

Usually long beds get 35 gallon tanks. I know that true for the 99 and newer trucks. Don't see why it wouldn't be so on the previous body style.

Extended cab trucks get 25 gallon tanks, though. I suppose it has something to do with not letting the tank continue under the cab.

my dads 99 suburban has a 44 gallon rear mounted tank where the spare tire would normaly be on a truck

On a semi-related note, what wound be involved with stiffening up my differential for snowy conditions? This thing is less than perfect from what I understand. Is it possible to put thicker fluid in the rear end to help with that? I was hoping to change out the original factory fluid in it anyways. Suggestions?

Would something such as this fit in my current axle, or would I need to swap the whole thing ..

Thicker will also mean hotter, causing more wear on parts and possible failure. It's usually best to stick with recommended fluids. Unless there's a spec recommendation for harsh environments

Yeah, My old Burb had a 44 gallon tank, too. I absolutely loved it. These wimpy little 25 gallon tanks they're putting on short beds and crew cabs just suck, in my opinion. Like I said, 2 of my vehicles have 35 gallon tanks, and the 2008 has a 25 gallon tank. I'd like to see if there is an upgrade, or aftermarket 35 gallon (or larger) tank.
