how to port and polish a throttle body (V6)

So acting on the inspriration of the 5.3 throttle body port. I started my 4.3 throttle body port project.
here is the throttle body from the 4.3. it sits facing straight up on the top of the engine.

notice inside there is a good similarity to the others. however on the back side of the blade there is this weird bulb sheild thing that blocks almost half of the air way WTF!!!!

so i did what any one would do and thats drill out the rivets and pry that some bitch off of there. I then filled the holes with metal filler and sanded everything down. I couldn't figure out how to remove the shaft that holds the blade in place so I cut it off with a dremel while it was still connected.

(besides the six pack of high life bet me I couldn't do it)

then I went to work with the grinder and "ported" it as best I could. After,I started with very harsh sand paper (60 grit) down to a 400 grit fine one. After every thing was nice and shiney, I waxed it and re assembled. the original post calls for filling the idle air hole and grinding the screws flush. I opted not to do this. Nor did i do the W.O.T. mod.

Here is a picture of the finished product before and after shots.

I have to say that this is the single greatest mod I have done to date! I feel an incredible throttle response and when I jump on it it is like some one has uncorked that little V6. This only took me about three hours to complete. GOOD LUCK and GO DO IT!!!!

I will, I am sure for a little while it will hurt it as my foot will be out in front of the bumper enjoying the new getty up. I anticipate that it will help with mileage due to almost doubling the size of the opening.
