My buddy and I were talking today.. and he wants a project to work on while he is at UTI here in Az.. He wants to do something that has never been done before or done very rarely.. he hasnt started school yet so his knowledge is close to mine and I cant find anything on line about this...

He found an 01 or an 03 sierra 1500 that had the 5.3 v8 at a junk yard... it was smashed in on the driver side in a tbone accident by the looks of it.. the motor has already been pretty much stripped of all the working parts but he really likes the truck..

His dad wants to help him with all the body work since school wont get him that.. but they want to know if they can pull a small diesel out of a similar year sierra 2500 and put it into the 1500.. any one know if the motor mounts/tranny placement and what not line up or will it all have to be custom fabbed?
