I have a 87 C-10 4 wheel drive. It has a 4.3 V6 in it with a 4 speed. I am got my hands on a 5.3 Vortech out of a newer chevy truck it has the wirering harness the computer and everything with it. My dad and I are wanting to put it in my 87 and were wondering if there would be any problems with the computer or anything else if we just left everything the way it is now and just dropped the motor in the truck. If anyone has any advice on this it would be nice to know. thanks.

 

as long as you have EVERYTHING,there shopuld be no problems...you'll have to get creative here and there...like where to mount the ecm...you'll need a fuel pump as well

 

.....and you might need to get someone to reflash the PCM to override the programming used with the automatic transmission. (You might have to tell the PC the auto trans isn't there anymore).

 

I hsve to buy a new fuel tank too we found a pretty good size hole in the one that is on it now

 

its very possible and will be cool..but caution..you've got A LOT of work to do
