Im torn on a decision...
I have a 1985 Chevy Custom Deluxe Shortbed. and I want to lift it... Not sure how much, but Its not 4WD... Would It be stupid to lift a 2WD? This is just for looks...

Do they even make a lift (besides a body lift) for a 85 2WD truck? If they do I say, it's your truck, if thats how you want it to look...Go for it! I had a 1995 2WD with a fabtech lift kit on it and I loved it! Lets face it (and I am sure there will be alot of people chiming in on this) a good percentage of the people with 4WD never use it and don't even have a use for it. Now there are those who do - don't get me wrong, but ALOT of people never ever put there truck in 4WD. There I said it! There is alot to be said for a lifted 2WD...definitely alot less to go wrong up front, better mileage, better ride, less maintenance, etc. I know alot of you die hard 4 wheel drive guys will disagree, but that is the facts.

OK, this caught my eye being I want a lift as well. But my truck isn't that old, being an 03. But how does a lift give better mileage? I'm still very new to wanting to work on the truck, and still learning about things so don't bash me.

You misunderstood me I was saying a 2WD lifted will probably get better mileage than a 4WD (less weight up front)...sorry for the confusion.

im new to truck modifications as well.. trying to make her look better one peice at a time

You could us these...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1963-...Q5fAccessories Along with some 3" blocks in the rear. If you wanted to go bigger you could also put a 3" body lift and be up 6" total. Good luck either way!!!!! |
