Which Intake Do I Choose?????
Help!!!! I was originally gonna get a K&N Intake, but some friends have suggested the Volant. Of course I want performance out of it, but I do want it to look good in the engine bay. What are your thoughts???????

Volant

RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
When I'm ready to look at my air intake again, I'm going to go with Volant too....although the Granatelli is making me think ...

RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
What about the GM Performance intake? Those any good?
|
RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
S&B maybe?
|
RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
I went with the volant. Looks good and works great. The air intake tube is a nice touch also.

RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
My K&N intake is awesome....but, it you want to later install a Throttle Body spacer you will wish you bought a different brand, they are all pretty much the same thing anyways just different looks.

RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
Also, there are 2 styles of K&N intakes....the plastic one and the shiny metal one (77 series). The shiny one looks good but the black plastic will give you slightly more power. I went with the regular plastic because that shiny crap is pointless. Who is really going to be looking under my hood besides me or a mechanic?

RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
I have the K&N intake with the black plastic tube.. my truck sounds mean with my Series 40 Flowmaster

RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
Supposedly they are all similar in gains, but I plan to make a custom ram air for my volant, so the opening in the bottom is nice. Also it works great now. Just avoid any with metal tubes as the tubes get hot and heat the incoming air.

RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
Its all about how much you want to lay down: (function and looks)
Volant = about $250 + $100 or so for ram air. K&N = about $200 K&N Chrome = $250 to $280 Airaid = $200 Just the Airaid intake tube = $100 Look for one with a heat shield or an air box because sucking in too much under hood heat will kill your horsepower. You can find a cheap no name one on ebay for about 100 bucks. My buddy had an exhaust shop make him a nice stainless one for 100 bucks too and all he had to do was hook the tube to his air box and buy a K&N filter. |
RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
those prices vary according to where you buy them. My K&N FIPK (plastic) cost $226 with shipping. Cheapest price I found. I always check AutoAnything.com. They guarantee they have the lowest price for all their products for an entire year. If you find it cheaper somewhere else they will pay you the difference. I have shopped there many times and they are for real. Last week I bought a Bedrug off their website for only $306. Cheapest I found. It ought to be here tomorrow. I love that site.

RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
would have cost you $201 if you would have went to www.couponcreep.com and used one of coupon codes for autoanything.. i save an extra $25 every order over $199.

RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
THanks guys....looks like Volant it is
|
RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
i had several coupons but they are not allowed for BedRug purchase and some other products
|
RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
How do you all do those custom intakes. What filter do you use?
|
RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
Remove old air duct and air box and replace with the new intake. Goes on (usually) the same way it came off. Most intakes come with a "high-flow" air filter.
|
RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
I use an Air Raid cold air, it's very good and is serving well.

RE: Which Intake Do I Choose?????
Nice tip on autoanything.com and couponcreep.com Just ordered a Volant for my '06 Sierra and knocked $20 bucks off it....
