Integrated Brake Controller
 

Got a 08 silverado with the towing package but not the in dash IBC. My dealers parts dept. doesnt know this exists for the new bodies.

Emailed the factory to find out if I could get some part # and or info, with no response yet. Can this be added through the dealership? I am assumimg all I need is the kick panel, the controller, and the wire harness.

Does anyone have this equipped in there truck? If so how do you like it as compared to an aftermarket unit?

can not be added afterwards. you had to buy it with it installed from the factory.
i read somewhere that you couldnt have it installed afterwards, but i cant find the link now.

it says right in the owners book that the wiring is under the dash waiting for a brake controller. I'm guessing the reason they don't sell the built in one is because you would pretty much have to replace the dash as there is not spot for it on the normal dashes. Just buy an aftermarket one and take advantage of the wiring that is already done all you need to do is make a little splice and you're ready to go.

I can't speak for the new ones, but my '01 was wired for a controller. I don't tow much, so I just bought a cheap one. It plugged right in and I mounted it to the metal support along the bottom of the dash. There were even holes already in the metal strip that I used to mount the thing. Couldn't have been easier.

If you get that option when you place your order its only $200. I thought it would cost more if you could install at dealership. Depending on how much more I would do it to keep a clean look in the cab.
