interior door trim help!

Howdy ya'll. I just bought a 2004 Silverado 1500. I am having a issue with some interior door trim on both the driver side and passenger side. The part that holds the controls for the windows and locks is loose. now after looking at it, thats not the part that is broken. Its the part that holds it to the door. underneith the armrest. I can try and take a picture of it but I dont know how to take it off to show the part. But if anyone knows where I can get a replacement part for this, or knows of a clean solution for this part, that would help out a lot! Thanks!!

If I am understanding you correctly you need #10 in the diagram. They are only $20 new...

It's actually the part that holds part 10 to the door. Is that part of the arm rest?

I guess it depends on which side broke - it is either the tab on #10 or the door panel itself.

its not the tab on #10. that part is fine. Its the part on the door that is broken.

If you are referring to the slot in the door panel that the tab on part #10 slips into, I broke that part removing the passenger panel on my truck last week. the slot appears to be part of the door panel and looks like one of those poorly engineered parts that will always break in the process of removing the switch garnish. I thought about rebuilding the slot with JB Weld but didn't have the time to leave the truck apart while the JB Weld hardened. Mine went back together broken and so far is holding tight. I think it would be possible to reconstruct the slot with JB Weld and shape it with a Dremel and it would be as strong or stronger than the original design. The repair would not show, so it would'nt have to be pretty.
