Jump seat mod completed!
I just finished the jump seat mod for my truck and as promised here is the step by step.
This mod is to turn your fixed jump seat in to an arm rest. First you'll need a pipe cutter for a nice clean cut. You can use a hack saw if you are desperate but there is a good chance you will cut the leather. second you need a 6 pack of lite beer (cause it is so f-ing hot out side)[sm=icon_cheers.gif]. third a pair of vise grips and brute force. I clamped the vise grips on the posts that hold the back of the jump seat up. then I went up about 1 inch from the bottom portion of the seat and began cutting with the pipe cutter. it will take a while because that pipe is pretty thick. After both sides are cut, flip the seat back over to put the carpet side down and the leather or cloth side up. The pipe will measure for 3/4" BUT the standard 3/4" conduit will not fit over it. so I did what any shade tree mechanic would do and I got some electrical pvc and made brackets to hold it in place. I did not paint these as I am still looking to fab up some hinges when i get more time but i don't think this looks too bad this way either. total cost: $9.00 for materials $6.25 for beer watch out cause those fresh cut pipes are sharp. Nice work, Popo!!! I wishI would have thought about that!!! Do you know how many times I would have bought a WT package if the center seat would have folded down???
