Just Curious
do the new 08's have drum brakes and is chevy planning to stick with rear drums again?

RE: Just Curious
Not sure but I know my 03 has 4-wheel disc.

RE: Just Curious
i know in 04 or 05 they went back to rear drums.

RE: Just Curious
Huh? That's gay of them. Oh well, good thing I didn't get a newer one then. I hate drum brakes.
|
RE: Just Curious
Me to but ive heard of the disk break freezing up in the back.

RE: Just Curious
Yep, I think they went back to the drums for cost savings. I like my 2000's discs, but drums would be better for burnouts... :)

RE: Just Curious
Yes GM is sticking with Drums as they are cheaper and lower maintenance than the disc brakes. Our trucks should be fine with the disc brakes, but I know people with work trucks who hate them cause they are always giving them trouble when the truck is used to haul stuff all the time. AKA GM is covering their ass again.

RE: Just Curious
theyre both good and bad in their own ways i guess. you would think disc brakes would be cheaper to produce seeing as its less parts.
|
RE: Just Curious
...but everytime they f*ck up GM has to replace them. The drums are made of cheaper metal (usually) and last longer/require fewer trips to the dealer. (From what I read online)

RE: Just Curious
from my experience drums wear slower. i have to get in, check, or replace a lot less often then i do with the front discs. and i guess the way they wear is less destructive than a disc, maybe thats why they practically last forever. i actually just threw my factory drum casings away about 7 monthes ago from finally getting too thin.
