Kick down Cable help!!

Hey Guys,
Did a tranny swap this weekened, swapped a cooked 700R4 for a good one. Got it in all good there.

But someone was telling me if i dont adjust the kickdown cable properly i can cook my new tranny in under 4KM!!!!! WHAT!?!?!?

I didnt see any adjustments on the cable...How do you adjust it?!?

Im stumped with this one..ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated.

On the side of the TB there is a cable attached to the Tb. On the bracket behind it there is a plastic square peice I beleive with a half moom button on it. Press in the half moon and push the cable back into the plastic. Then have a friend press down on the accelerator (without the motor running) and it will pull the cable back out and it will be set. Normally. That is how I do it.

So i assume the plastic moon piece your talkin about is the one that clicks onto the tbi linkage.

Are you saying to disconnect it from the linkage to push the cable all the way in, then hook it back up to the tbi linkage and then push down on the accelerator??

And you've never had any tranny problems ? Just wounderin

Do not have to disconnect it form the TBI, Just push it in and push the cable into the shroud or you could disconnect it and push it in. Then push down on the accelerator pedal yes. I have nbever had any tranny problems with my 90 model 5.7 with 700R tranny. I never had it rebuilt either. Sold it with 207K after it sat for a year while I was in Korea. The guy that bought it never had a problem with it either as far as I know.
