Lifting a 2004 1500 silverado

I would like to lift my truck to get some bigger tires than the stock ones. Which is the best way to go? Maybe 2 or three inches and what size tires would that let me put on. This is a 4wd.

285/75/16 Stock is the biggest you can go.
You can prob fit 305 with a 2" lift but Im not 100% sure.
