LOUD Whine when cold
 

I just got a used 02 silverado 2500 hd.It has the 6.0L V8,AT,4WD,Tow package.I've had it for a month and have been happy with the truck.It finally is getting cold.I started it yesterday morning at 18 degrees and it starts right up but has a loud whine to the point of sounding like a bearing squeel.It goes away after a few minutes.It sounds to me like the power steering pump.I have never had one whine this loud before.Has anyone had the same symptom?Is this normal for this truck?

Whats up pal,
My 03 does the same thing in the cold. Its been doing this basicly as long as i've owned the truck. I dont think its anything to worry about. Hoped this helped

Thanks for the reply.I took it to the dealer today for a leak in the master cylinder and asked them to check it out.The PS fluid looks cloudy and darker than normal and I was wondering if PS fluid is as hydroscopic as brake fluid and the moisture present in it would make it harder to pump at low temps until warm up.
