lowering shackles
Does anyone know if a 1 inch lowering shackle exist? I want to lower the rear end just 1 inch to level my truck. All I have seen are 2 inch lowering shackles.

RE: lowering shackles
Well I would have to agree that a 2 inch shakle would level it, but when I measure the fenders... the rear fenders are 1 inch higher in the air. I think I more or less just want to set the lower part of the fenders at the same height.

RE: lowering shackles
you might be able to raise the front to even it out.

RE: lowering shackles
I was thinking of that and from what I read the front end gets stiffer and has to be re-aligned. I don't want to stiffen teh ride anymore and I really do not want to re-align the front end since it tracks so well. I do not have a 4x4, but I do have torsion bars with different colored shocks compared to the 4x4/ z71. The dealership called it a sport suspension... I call it a half breed.

RE: lowering shackles
Belltech shackles have extra holes in them to lower it 1 or 2 inches...

MrLM7were is a good resonable place to order the Belltech shackles? I appreciate the information.

RE: lowering shackles
Hows it Braddas,
I have a question about shackles and rather than starting a new thread, I thought I would post it on this existing one. I bought my '05 Silverado already lowered by the dealership. I believe 4" in the front and 6" in the rear. The rear looked a bit lower than the front and in addition, it bottomed out when crossing tracks or slight bumps in the road. I swapped out the Bell Tech lowering shackles with stocks. It raised it about two inches. Problem fixed, however, I am left wondering if the allignment of the driveshaft is affected and will this cause any increased wear and tear on the U joints. Also, the rear shocks appear to be stock. Do I need to replace them with "lowered shocks?" Mahalo... Thanks. |
