MAF--what, where, how?
Hi
My truck is a Chevy Silverado 1500, 2005, quad cab with 5.3L engine. I have been told that I should clean the MAF. My questions are: where is it, what does it look like, how do I clean it?
Thanks

but if you want to know where it is look where your airbox is then look on the tube and youll see what looks kinda like a rectangle and some wires thats your MAF sensor.
its basically a thin wire that senses air movement and to clean it you can use choke cleaner but once again its kinda fragile and the truck will run like **** if it goes bad
Use this to clean it. I have the exact spray, and if you follow the instructions, it works wonders. I had to clean the one on my 3.4L minivan, and it runs like new now.
The way to test if it's the sensor is to unplug it and drive around with it. You'll feel like you just got a new engine, but in reality, it's running with stock, static settings for what that sensor should be providing to your PCM. You really do need that sensor ... so either clean or replace it if your truck runs better without the sensor plugged in.
