My Lemon
I just bought a one ton duelly with a flat bed. It has the 6 liter motor. At 351 miles we had to have it towed because of low-no oil pressure. I went yesterday to pick it up with its new oil pump. The oil pressure only got up to 40 psi when it downshifted for the hills. It seems to me that a new engine would have close to 40psi at an idle. My brother has the next size down v-8 and that is the case with his. Let me know what you think. Thanks

I dont' know what year yours is, but I had a 94 Silverado 1500 with the 5.7 that ran about 45psi all the time. It'd float down to about 30 at idle though. the only time it dropped to no pressure was when it was running low on oil and I took a left hand turn. (the rear seal was leaking I was told)
My 5.7L runs about 35-40 warm and driving. At idle it sits at about 20 when warm. Personnally I wouldn't worry too much about that truck, I would worry when it hits about 5-0 psi when warm and idling in gear. (if auto) Anything over that and it should be just fine.
try running thinner oil or like a 5-30. that will help it from getting so high. I have heard that if it get too high that it could damage some of the seals. That and it is overworking the oil pump. That is not something that I am willing to overwork and possibly have fail on me.
