What year/engine is your truck?

And also, what kind of gain do you want out of it? As in top end, bottom end, torque?

Don't Know a lot about cams but I do know that crane cams is a good brand. http://www.cranecams.com/ Just a suggested website to check out. Plus you can request their catalog.

Like he said in the last post, Crane cams is a great product, alittle bit on the expensive side, but when your going with internal parts for your engine you always want to spend more on better quality parts...

Crane only makes one size cam for your 5.3 but it turns out it would work great for what you have. It's not too radical, with a stock-like idle. It will give you allot more low-end torque but it's RPM range is from 1500 too 5000 RPM so you will notice a huge power increase within that RPM range. Here is the website with all the specs for that specific camshaft. I'd do some more research on other products too. Lunati is also a good product.

Yes. Comp cams is also a good choice. My buddy with an 05 5.3 is about to install a comp. He said you can spend 380$ and order a custom grind cam to fit your wants and needs wich seems like a great deal. Just be sure your carefull while installing it.

Ya i saw the comp. cams and i like them, but i wasnt gonna install the cam myself i was gonna bring it to a mechanic i know to have him put it in cause i would mess up my engine if i did it myself
