its been bothering me since i have no money and cant afford new or used tires but my tires are so dry rotted they are losing air and i have no tread...they are slicks at this point

but anyone know anything about these tires?
these are prices they are asking

Definity dakota A/T-$140 each
Dayton Timberline A/T-$300 for all
Firestone destination LE-$140 each

The Dayton Timberline is a good tire but you won't get much mileage out of them since they're a pretty soft compound. The upside is that they're cheap and will last a couple years. Just don't expect 50k out of them.

my neighbor owns a dealership and said he can get me 4 firestone transforce HT tires for 500 balance and rotation included

 

Personally, I'd got for the Firestone Destination A/T. Worth the extra money, absolutely amazing in the snow, quiet ride, good on tread life and look awesome. Worth the investment imo. So, if you're not into the A/Ts, go for the LEs, and I think they'll be about as good or better.

If money wasn't such an issue I'd say the new Cooper CS4. I did a bunch of reading before putting a set on the wife's Lexus RX330. They're great all season, quiet going down the road and have an 80k rating. We were replacing a set of Michelin Cross Terrain and I was really surprised to see that the Cooper faired better in overall tests. I'm a believer so far.

 

For the money, you should just go to Wal Mart. You won't get the best tires, but you'll get a set that will last a good while. Rotate them like you're supposed to because when they wear, they'll be noisy & uneven if you don't rotate.
